Things You Should Know About Mold
Buyers Beware of Purchasing Flooded Travel Trailers
The contaminated flood waters that crippled Northeast Pennsylvania, in September of 2011, ran along the Susquehanna River from New York to the Harrisburg area, creating an influx of flood damaged travel trailers. Most of these damaged RVs were totaled through insurance claims. As a result, many of these damaged vehicles have been sent or sold to salvage yards. Proper disposal of these damaged vehicles would have been to crush or destroy them; instead, salvage yards sold many of these vehicles to the highest bidder.
These vehicles will ALWAYS carry contaminants that have the potential to cause serious health problems and symptoms associated with mold and mildew exposures, including, but not limited to; allergic reactions, asthma, and other respiratory complaints. .There is no practical way to eliminate all molds and mold spores in the indoor environment of these vehicles especially water trapped behind walls and under floors through "Refurbishing". The walls and floors will eventually delaminate and cause permanent damage and soft flooring.
Molds can be found almost anywhere; they can grow on virtually any surface, providing moisture is present. There are molds that can grow on wood, paper, and carpet. Another concern for these vehicles is submerged electrical parts of appliances that will cause rusting and further un-repairable issues.
Reputable Dealers will not accept salvage titles or water damage titles. These titles can never be reversed and will never be eligible for bank financing. NO TRADE VALUE- Low Price does not mean a GOOD DEAL!!!!!
